I knew I wanted something different from the typical school birthday celebrations that often revolve around singing "Happy Birthday" and eating sugary treats. While those traditions have their place, I felt they didn’t fully capture the depth and meaning a birthday can hold for a child. The "Happy Birthday" song, often sung with little enthusiasm, had started to feel more like a routine than a heartfelt celebration. And the focus on sugary snacks seemed to overshadow the true essence of the day—a chance to honor the child and their unique journey.
I wanted to create a celebration that felt intentional, joyful, and deeply meaningful, one that went beyond the surface-level traditions and truly celebrated the child as an individual. This meant stepping away from the typical formula and finding ways to make the day about connection, growth, and the beauty of life’s unfolding story.

I was inspired by the thoughtful and intentional approaches found in the Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia inspired philosophies. Each of these educational models celebrates birthdays in unique ways, prioritizing meaning, connection, and honoring the child, which inspired me to move away from traditional, food-focused, and commercialized celebrations.
